He who PRCA Dares, wins…

By Lee Cullen

Last week we dusted off our glad rags and picked up another shiny PR award, this time for our work with Big Heritage on the launch of the Sick to Death attraction in Chester.

As anyone who reads our blog or follows us on social will know, it’s not our first award win. We popped our award winning cherry a while ago now and we love to celebrate when we win nice things!

But this one was different.

For a start, we were up against some amazing competition. This was the PRCA Dare ‘Event, Launch or Stunt of the Year’ category and there were eight entries on the list.

It included Petal & Co – a start-up agency like ourselves – who have had an amazing 12 months and we’ve seen them walking up to collect more awards than I can even count. Big established agencies like Weber Shandwick and Manc Frank were also on the shortlist with two entries a-piece. And Brazen and Carousel PR – both award winners on the night – completed the line up.

We’ve sat back and applauded all of those agencies to the winner’s stage in recent months, so if I’m being totally honest, I’d pretty much written off our chances in this one! How wrong I was.

What makes this award extra special for me is the fact that it’s focused on the work we do for our clients. It’s the first time we’ve received one like it and it’s really satisfying to know that the judges thought as highly of this campaign as we do.

We have to say a huge thank you to Dean and his team at Big Heritage for giving us the chance to take a massive risk with the launch of Sick to Death. With nothing more than a few ideas, lots of heart and a plague doctor costume, we managed to achieve some amazing results together (if you haven’t seen the campaign before, you can check it out here!).

The great thing about awards is that they give you added motivation to do things differently and to work that little bit harder in the pursuit of even better results. They’re also a great chance to celebrate your work and there were definitely a few sore heads in the No Brainer office the next day!

A wise man once said, “he who dares, wins,” so we’ll carry on doing things differently and we’ll hope to back on that stage again next year.
